About Me · About You · About the Problem · About the ApproachAbout The ProblemWhy thinking harder doesn’t work
Here's what nobody tells you: the smarter you are, the easier it is to think your way into a cage.
You've spent years getting good at analysis. Weighing options, predicting outcomes, understanding your own patterns well enough to explain them to a therapist in full paragraphs. And it hasn't gotten you out. If anything, it's gotten you stuck in a more sophisticated version of the same loop, endlessly running the scenario, dissecting the feeling instead of actually feeling it.
You know this: replaying a conversation three hours later, rewriting what you should have said. Drafting a message, deleting it, drafting it again. Running tomorrow's difficult conversation in your head tonight, and the night after, until you've had it forty times and never once out loud.
And maybe by now you’ve started to realise the truth: having insight does not equal change. You can know exactly why you people-please, exactly which childhood moment taught you to make yourself small, exactly what your nervous system does under pressure… And still wake up tomorrow doing the same thing. Understanding a pattern from the outside doesn't unhook you from the inside of it. Your mind isn't the part of you that's stuck. It's just the part that's been doing all the work, alone, for a very long time.
The way out was never going to come from more thinking.
It has to come from somewhere your mind can't out-analyse: your body.
Play does something analysis can't. It pulls you out of your head and into the present, not through willpower, but because you physically can't overthink and stay in flow at the same time. One definition of play: alert, but feeling safe. That's the exact state where creativity, problem-solving, and real connection actually happen. Not the state you get to by thinking harder. The state you get to by finally letting your guard down enough to move, to laugh, to take up space without calculating the cost first.
This isn't about becoming careless or ignoring your instincts, you'll stay just as sharp. It's about giving your body a turn to lead, after years of your mind carrying everything alone.
